going back to the roots, a healthier choice

Where has this surfaced from? As we were standing in line at the grocery store, my eyes scanning everything around me. It was like a bad Winnie the Pooh story where he realizes all the honey jars were empty. Though his jars are empty his craving is now over whelming.

SURROUNDED BY CANDY,CANDY,CANDY!! OF ALL KINDS, SHAPES AND SIZES!

CHIPS!!! NO MATTER WHAT WAY I TURNED I WAS BEING INVADED!

FASTER PLEASE! I NEED TO GET AWAY FROM THIS BEFORE MY TWO YEAR OLD NOTICES THIS!

sEROUSLY THOUGH i THInK IT’s ALL A bIT OUT OF COnTrOL ~

Why not have this clutter out of here, As a mom and a grandmother, the last thing I want to deal with is a child throwing a tantrum at the check out lane. Please Please Retailers exchange that candy for some fruit and I would be happy to purchase it.

My solution : Every time our two year old acknowledges the garbage of sugar hanging of the shelfs  we go into the YUK eeuuh, you won’t like that it’s yukky! and a hand gesture of get away candy! mode!!

Oh! and Yes I get some lookks! HEY !!  thats ok. If it stops him from craving stuff that will just make him hyper and unhealthy, I’m going with it!

A couple of links I found where the retailer has done this! KUDOS!!!!

One grocery chain decides to ban all candy from all checkout lanes. Could this be a trend that spreads to your store?

This just makes me more determined to teach Our little one about nutrition, making healthy choices and growing food at home. Thus GOING BACK TO THE ROOTS.

I grew up on a farm and remember complaing about all the work, but I sure did enjoy eating fresh picked peas or carrots. Back then all we did is wipe the dirt off and eat while we picked. Can’t get any fresher than that.

Your local farmers market is a great place to start if you are unable to grow your own. You can plan your meals around the season and what is ready at that time of the year.

I am dumb founded that we have gotten so far away from nature that our children need to be taught these things, when it was just part of daily life that you learned growing up.

There are some great videos out there you can refer to. They can be a great help if your just starting to grow your own food or need some refresher to get you going.

I notice that the past couple mornings here have been warm. Spring is in the air and It is time to start our growing food project.

Hopefully we have a great crop that we can share.  Stay connected with us to see how it goes.
